Brooker, G., Bond, D., Sparrow, L., & Swan, P. (2010). Teaching Primary Mathematics (4thed). Australia: Pearson.

Brooker, Bond, Sparrow and Swan write that, “teachers are using calculators and ICT’s to promote deeper and more effective mathematical thinking.” This further promotes the use of ICT’s in the classroom to create a more efficient teaching environment.

Allows for teaching time to be more efficient.

Using ICT in the classroom is a great way of eliminating time wasting and creates a more efficient teaching environment. Time wasting or long extended activities are the root causes of children disengaging and then creating behaviour issues in the classroom. One way teachers can eliminate time wasting and be more effective in their teaching is to use an interactive whiteboard. Interactive whiteboards are a great way of being more effective as they remove the time spent writing on a whiteboard, instead they can just project there documents onto the screen. The ability to interact with what has been projected onto the screen also eliminates time wasting. There is evidence to support ICT’s as a way to promote teaching more efficiently.
